St Antony's College

St Antony’s is a graduate college of the University. It was founded in 1950 following the gift of Antonin Besse of Aden, a French entrepreneur. From the very beginning, the College was intended to have an international focus and membership, and today it is a world-renowned centre for research and teaching on global and regional issues.

St Antony's houses seven research centres focused on Africa, Asia, Europe, Japan, Latin America, the Middle East, Russia and Eurasia. Archival collections held by the Middle East Centre Archive are managed separately. Please see Middle East Centre Archive, St Antony's College | Oxford College Archives for further information about these.

As a relatively young college, St Antony’s does not have an extensive archive. Its archival collections comprise institutional records of the College itself, dating from just prior to its establishment, and a small number of collections of personal and research papers. These relate chiefly to twentieth-century Europe and include the papers of Sir John Wheeler-Bennett, historian and expert on international affairs.

Information about the college, including a brief history, can also be found on its website.
